Minibaby WIP, one of these days...

I am trying something new... my drawing teacher told me to work in a bigger scale, both with my figure drawing and sculpting. So this baby is not really a miniature, it is about 25 cm and sculpting in this bigger scale is fun :)

But, yesterday I had to learn something new... my armature, while strong enough for a dollhouse size sculpture, is not able to hold so much clay on a bigger sculpture. Arrgghhh! Both legs broke in the oven and I was lucky that it did not crush on its head.

I will need to make an armature from stronger wire, brass tubes and epoxy.

Happy sculpting and have a nice day, my friends!

Another sculpture WIP - bigger this time

I will post pictures of my newest dollhouse girl tomorrow, the glue is still drying... only some little details and she will be ready for picture taking :))

While waiting, I decided to work on another project, a bigger sculpture (about 8 inches, probably).
I think it is a little different, and I can't decide if it is male or female... mmmmhhh...
Only the head and upper part is sculpted now, here we go:

Have a nice day, my friends!

Finally another dollhouse child, wip1

The last days I was busy with head sculpting, there is so much to learn... I use a lot of pictures for sculpting but the real thing is always best! I'm so lucky that I have children that I can bind on a chair for sculpting practice, heheheh... just kidding!

But, sculpting exercises will not get you these cool comments, like: "you're the greatest sculptor I ever met.... etc." (I am dreaming now, LOL!) They are boring to look at, I'm afraid...

This head is for my newest dollhouse girl or boy, it is already baked once and will now be baked a second time for the first layer of the genesis paint. I hope you will enjoy this work in progress.

Alex

I need to practice... sculpting hands...

You may think that I have been idle the last weeks, but I was really busy... studying the anatomy.

So, I was a good girl and did some hand studies, not in dollhouse size though, that would kill my eyes, lol!

Also, I wanted some space to work on, so these hands are the size of about a 8-9 inch doll.
Can you see, that I had a lot of fun making them? I even numbered them, I am so proud of myself :)) And I am going to make some more... I think, feet will be next :))

Alex

I'm back...

Hey all!

I hope you had a nice, warm summer :)) Here in Berlin the weather seems to be reduced to winter and summer this year. The short hot summer is over and it feels like winter already...

The last two months were very busy for me, I had barely time to sculpt... but you know how it is, you make plans and then life happens, lol!

The last days I went with my children chestnut harvesting... my two little sweethearts, Ben (5) and Lea (2) had a lot of fun, as you can see in the following pictures. When I edited the pictures some of them made me laugh so hard my belly still aches :)) Can you stay serious when watching them practice making faces?

Chestnuts, chestnuts...

Making faces...

Ben loves soccer...

Looking for duckies...

Sisters, new ooak miniature dolls

These two dollhouse sisters remind me of my own children. When my son Benny was born his big brother Simon would smile at him in such a cute way, and he still does... though Benny is now an already 5 years old whirlwind, lol!

After finishing this sculpture my fingers are already itching to sculpt another one, lol!
Everyone of these little guys are such a joy to make...

Alex

P.s. I did not like the dress anymore, so I made some changes, this is how she looks now:

African Dollhouse Girl, first pictures

In the last days I practiced sculpting african faces, it is quite fascinating... You probably remember the two heads I posted some days ago, here is what I made from one - a little girl. I think she is very lovely, and now I only have to decide what dress and hairstyle she will wear :))

Alex
